Effective January 1, 2007 there will be new requirements for class D driver’s licenses
Are you familiar with Joshua's Law? It is a bill that changes the requirements that teen drivers must meet in order to obtain a Class D driver’s license starting on January 1, 2007.
To get a Class D driver's license at age sixteen (16):
You must have completed a driver education course approved by the Department of Driver Services and
You also must have completed a cumulative total of at least forty (40) hours of other supervised driving experience, including at least six (6) hours at night.
If you have not completed an approved driver's education course, you cannot get your Class D driver's license until you reach age seventeen (17). Remember, forty (40) hour of driving experience, including six (6) hours of driving at night, is always required for a Class D driver's license.

In 2005 the Georgia General Assembly passed the Joshua Law which provided driver education for every teen. After January 1, 2007 all teens receiving their restricted license must show proof of receiving drivers education or wait until they are 17 to get their license. Concerning learners permits under subsection (a) of Code Section 40-5-24, the department can issue a Class P instruction permit allowing the operation of a noncommercial Class C vehicle to any person who is at least 15 years of age.

How to Get Your Learner's Permit
Fifteen-year-olds may apply for the learner's permit with their parent's or guardian's permission. You must still be in school, or show proof of graduation, to receive your learner's permit.
Apply for the permit at your local driver's license office with the following:
Certified birth certificate or birth registration
Certified court papers showing adoption or name change, if applicable
Social Security card
Certificate of Attendance signed by an official at your school
Your parent or guardian, who will need to sign permission for you to obtain your permit
$10 license fee
You will be required to take written and vision tests. Study the Georgia Driver's Manual to learn about traffic laws, rules of the road, safety, and traffic signals.
Your permit will be valid for 24 months, but if you get a ticket during that time, your permit could be suspended―even if you pay the fine.

it would want to be safer on the roads once you should attend till eventually 17. i dont have an issue with it. at the same time as i changed into 16 i might want to of hated having to attend. yet too many 16 12 months olds lack the interest span to be solid drivers. i'm waiting for loads of thumbs down from loads of human beings yet i'm also prepared to guess those human beings will be less than 20
