Does it matter? The Kyoto accord is basically unenforcable, and actually allows members to walk away with 1 years notice without penalty. Seeming we are less then 3 years away from the date, and the 9 years the Liberals allowed the emmissions to grow has put us in an unsurmountable hole.

The clean air act is a good start, with total enforcement by 2050, but starting as soon as 2015. A larger overall Canadian plan that has managable expectations and measurable results is always better then one offs that were detremental to Canada from the begining.

Finally, the simplest solution for the oil sands emmissions in Nuclear......and Dion is anti-nuke, so the only other solution is severely handicapping the oil sands which is driving the Canadian economy.

So unless the Green, NDP or Liberals change their policy on Nuclear energy, expect the Conservatives to ignore the Kyoto deadline, make some changes to try and get closer to the targets, and wait for someone to build a nuclear energy plant for the oil sands.

Probably not. Prime Minister Harper just replaced Rona Ambrose, the environment minister, because the government's attempt at the watered down clean air act did not meet with public approval. Her replacement, John Baird, is talking about unusual weather that has caused Canadians to realize that there is a problem. This is a face saving exercise that will allow the government to support Kyoto and get re-elected.

international treaties signed by applying one occasion in government are very virtually constantly honoured if the government variations. hence, and the reality that they are able to't arise with a respected option, Kyoto desires to be adhered to, in spite of how poorly the previous government rated. BTW... while did the Liberals ever attack Israel? Why is Israel above grievance? Are you unaware of the crimes that they have got and are committing?

i dont know much about Canada environmental policy. Regarding wars, foreign policy, environmental policies, and so on USA is dominated by oil companies

obviously those companies dont want that people reduce CO2 emissions because it means they will sell less oil

maybe Canada is in the same situation

No its impossible. Canada has signed the agreement and ratified it there is no going back now. This is why the US is ok as they signed it but they never ratified it.

Harper has, and he like many many others that have common sense is able to see that all this environment crap is just that crap, this whole global thing is nothing less than the biggest lie history has to deal with.

Harper already did. In its place he enacted the weaker Clean Air Act that won't even come into full effect until 2050. :-(
