Of course they 'both' are i know, but don't they put Chemicals in Cigarrettes to prolong their shelf date, if you roll your own they are free from them?

You can get filters for handrolling. I'm not sure what is better, but if you wanna quit i got a great idea. I was going to get addicted to cigarretes, but I started rolling cigareetes filled with catnip instead. the effects are just a slight dumbing of the mind. If you want to be the healthiest go to your petstore and you can pick up a huge can for 3 or 4 bucks. It helped me cuz I missed the smoking action more than the nicotine. My dad thinks rolling them is better because you smoke less. its really up to you. but why pay the already wealthy phillip orris company when you can by some cosmic kittie. Cats kinda dig on the smoke too. :)

Only if you grow you own tobacco, Einstein.

I began smoking when I was just eleven years old. I tried cigarettes, cigars, pipes, menthol, light (yuk!), organic tobaccom etc, and I quit smoking at 35. The damage was still there, and I had a heart attack last year, 3 years after I quit smoking. Everyday I repent from having poisoned myself in such a stupid way for so many years.

But still, the choice is yours, it's your lungs, not mine.

Yea but the hand rolled ones don't have filters on them like the manufactured ones do.

Just buy some pipe tobacco and roll it. It doesn't have the 3000+ chemicals in it.

Loose tobacco is also chemicalized to maintain shelf freshness. The only difference is the filter and the work put into rolling.

I would say rolled ones as there is no filter on them. And whatever chemicals they put in cigarettes, they put in rolling tobacco.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths for both men and women in Canada. The risk of developing lung cancer increases sharply the more you smoke and the longer you smoke.

Smoking can also increase the risk of developing cancer of the bladder, breast, cervix, colon and rectum, esophagus, kidney, larynx, mouth and throat, pancreas, and stomach.
Health benefits of quitting

All kinds of smokers – men and women, young or old – can get health benefits from quitting. The minute you stop smoking, your body begins to clean itself of tobacco poisons. Here’s how:

* Within 8 hours, carbon monoxide levels drop in your body and oxygen levels in your blood increases.
* After 2 days, your sense of smell and taste begin to improve.
* Within 2 weeks to 3 months, your lungs work better making it easier to breathe.
* After 6 months, coughing, sinus congestion, tiredness and shortness of breath improve.
* After 1 year, your risk of a smoking-related heart attack is reduced by half.

The younger you are when you quit the greater the health benefits.
Quit and reduce the risk of cancer

Quit now and reduce the risk of developing cancer. In general, the longer you don't smoke the more you lower your risk.

* Within 10 years of quitting, the overall risk of an ex-smoker dying from lung cancer is cut in half.
* After 10 years, the overall risk of an ex-smoker developing cancer approaches that of a non-smoker.

How do most people quit?

For most people, becoming a non-smoker is more of a process than an event. Quitting often takes practice. Many smokers will try several times to quit before they are successful.

Different smokers stop smoking in different ways. The way you quit will depend on your reasons for smoking and how addicted you are to smoking. Some smokers quit “cold turkey” while others prefer to gradually cut down on cigarettes. There is no one right way to quit.
