My world famous home made ragu. This is just a plain tomato sauce - an Italian would never used minced meat - Spag Bol is a British dish!
Firstly fry off a chopped onion and a couple of garlic cloves in a little olive oil. Add tomatoes. To impress, use fresh boiled skinned ones. For simplicity, use tinned (they are evidently better for you than fresh - the tinning process concentrates some beneficial chemical compound) chopped ones, For economy, use tinned plum ones - they're a little bit cheaper and more flexible - you can chop whole ones up but you can't stick chopped ones back together again for a full English breakfast! Just pour the chopped ones in. With the whole ones pour in the juice and then chop them up in the can - its so much easier than chasing them around the pan! Add some herbs - again fresh basil and/or oregano to impress, a teaspoon of dried mixed ones for simplicity. Simmer until it has reduced to the consistency you fancy.
Pour over the boiled pasta of your choice - fresh to impress, dried for simplicity. Add a splash of olive oil to the water first - it stops it sticking.
You can top it with grated cheese - fresh Parmesan or that bit of Cheddar (or whatever) that has moved on its own to the back of the fridge. :-)

Saute smoked bacon in skillet. Remove
Add a little ground beef to said skillet. Brown. Remove. Drain
on paper towel.
Saute finely chopped onion in skillet. Add finely chopped garlic and sweet bell pepper.
Add tomato paste to skillet and saute with vegetables. Add some fresh or canned tomatoes. Add dried oregano, red chile, sugar or honey or grated carrot, and enough water.
Add browned beef.
Taste for salt, pepper, sweetness.
Boil pasta. Drain well. Place in large serving bowl.
Cover pasta with sauce. Crumble cooked bacon over the top.
Grate parmesan cheese over the top. Serve each plate
with a dollop of butter and some fresh parsly, thyme, or oregano. Keep a little red chile oil on the side for those who
like it hot. Also maybe some roasted garlic on the side.
And spinach salad. And crusty garlic bread.
hold the anchovies and the pineapple

Believe me...Prego is the best spaghetti sauce you can buy. I have a cafe and use Prego, mix in some browned ground beef and a few small tomato chunks and everyone loves my sauce and thinks it's homemade!!!

(Prego is wayy better then Ragu, because ragu is wayy too thin and runny.) Buy some Prego and spice it up with some meat or meatballs.
