I wouldn't put it past someone:
The Free Dictionary Definition (Idioms):something that you say when you think that it is possible that someone might do something wrong or unpleasant. If someone says a person has done something terrible, unbelievable or unusual. The listener would respond," I wouldn't put it past him." They mean that knowing that person they think they would be capable or likely to do something like that.

It means you would not be surprised if they'd do it. It's generally not meant in a nice way, like...
Question "Do you think he will cheat on me?"
Answer "Well I wouldn't put it past him."

I posted this and then read the responses and nearly everyone used the exact same example. How funny.

It is something that that person would do....don't give them the credit of thinking the person wouldn't stoop so low as to do a particular thing...ex:

Person A: Do you think John would cheat on me while I'm away?
Person B: I wouldn't put it past him. (in other words, he probably would cheat)

It means they would think that he is capable of doing whatever it is your speaking of.

for example someone says "He's cheating on her." and someone else says "I wouldn't put it past him". Means they believe he could do it.

When someone says: "I wouldn't put it past him" he/she means that he/she does not doubt that "him" is uncapable of doing something or being something.

"I wouldn't be surprised if he..............." and then you say something negative or bad the person would do.

This is said when you do not think highly of the person in that their moral character or judgment cannot be trusted, in your opinion.
