Will two layers of coat make your wall slightly darker than what you had originally chosen?

It always depends on what you are painting over.

If you are painting over a darker color, it will give a slight change to your paint. If you are painting over a new wall with new primer, It should have no affect on the color. Your lighting may affect it though.

Also Red and Black always are exceptions to the rule. They almost always bleed through. Extra primer and multiple coats are generally in order when painting over extreme colors as these.

Well I tell you to definitely stick with a similar shade to Green Tomato color, because you love it. And if it is for a nursery, you want pastel or softer colors because they are more relaxing. ALWAYS a paint color is darker on the walls than in the bucket or on a color swatch. If you want buy Green Tomato, but mix white with it to dilute it, or make it lighter, that way when it is on the walls, it will look good, not overpowering.

It's not the two coats. It's just that a large area of a color you have only seen on a small swatch will appear to be a bit darker on the wall.
