All cats do that.
My cat did that too. It just means they love you and will follow you anywhere. Sometimes they want attention or food or to play. Or they just want to be with you.
We accidentally stepped on her a couple of times and now she gives us a wide berth where we walk; especially in the dark.
She still walks by our sides, but she no longer trips us up. She knows she may get stepped on.

My cat used to trip me. Sometimes I actually stepped on him. To stop him from running in front of me, when he did I would push him forward with my foot. I didn't kick him but I made sure he knew if he stayed there he was going to get stepped on. It took a while but it worked.

You should ask your cat but I am guessing your cat is just very bonded too you and wants to be near you more like a dog normally does - it happens.

i personally have a cat also, and when my cat does that, she usually wants something. either she wants her food bowl refilled, litterbox cleaned, or wants to go outside. but for me, she stops doing so when i give her what she wanted. yours might be extremely attached to you and wants you to give him/her some attention. this may not be your case, but sometimes cats do this because theres something else other than him/her that you're paying more attention to..like maybe another pet in the house. so just pet him/her often and play with them... hope dat helped :)

our cat does the same thing. they do that to try and be near us. ours goes as far as "supervising"in the kitchen. some cats don't care and others have the characteristic of dogs by following their humans around
