Depends on their maturity level. I have a 9 year old who is very mature and I allow him T games and PG-13.

Depends on the game and your childs behavior. I have an 8 year old, there are a few games he is allowed to play, but some the language is out of control or the violence level is higher than we like. I will usually make him rent the T games first and watch him play it. If it is ok then he can rent it again or buy it, if not it immediately leave the system.
PG-13 should be ok, but again some of the storylines are decidedly adult and I would think at 12 he would be able to understand things I don't really want him worrying about or being immersed in. So I would say the same thing...watch it first, know your family, know your child then each parent decide for themselves. But if another parent asks for a child to not watch it, or even if you are intending to show it and don't know where other parents stand, I would check because I think it would depend.

Yes, a 12 year old should be able to play rated T games because they are able to handle what ever is on it
PG-13 yes but if you think it should be rated R say no to that movie only
and if they start saying lines form movies that are not good for them to say don't let them see a movie like that again

Like everyone else said it depends on the maturity of the kid. I would say yes 12 is old enough for the game and for pg-13

It depends on the child and the game. Some T rated games are just fine and some are borderline M games. It's a good idea to read some reviews or rent it prior to purchasing to test it out. PG-13 movies are usually just fine, again, check out the movie prior to going and ask around.

That's an individual decision. Some kids are mature enough at 11 or 12, and there's some that I don't think can handle it at 17. For example - how many idiots tried to imitate "Jackass"?
It's the same thing with questionable music or movies. I was watching a comedian once who said "If you kid blows his brains out over something Gene Simmons says, then you S*CK as a parent!" It's the truth.

ya he is and those ratings aren't always really correct unless if you give a 7 year old a rated ma game. He probably should be able to even handle an ma game if he is a mature 12 year old. Parents, don't say I'm wrong because I know what I'm talking about and you cant rely on rating people to parent for you and have to use your own judgement on a game.

That often depends on the child as well as the game. Some children can handle it by the age of 8, but some need to wait longer. If the game is particularly crude and inappropriate the answer is just no.

Some of them. My 12.5 year old loves the Sims and I think that one is OK. PG-13 is fine most of the time too.
