If you've never done it or thought about it then why are you asking this question? You CANNOT ride a dogs back or you will break it causing him intense pain and the possibility that he will never walk again. Leave the poor dog alone.

My 18 month old likes to sit on my parent's labradors back and go for a short ride. We hold him though to make sure he doesn't fall off. A kid over ten would probably be a bit large for any dog I can think of.

My youthful little ones journey in a cart that i made for my bull arab to drag. he's an rather huge boy and is o.k. behaved when we placed the harness on. He likes to drag the little ones and every time my eldest (3) tries to drag the cart out of the shed the dogs helps, he only receives that excited.

That's a story my family won't let me tell anymore. Blackie was the cutest toy poodle ever, and we all miss him. Gotta run, late for weight watchers.
