I don't really like the idea of adding chemicals in my hair, i come from a very health-concious family an dhave avoided chemicals most of my life...and heat isn't an option for me because my hair is way too think and burns very easily...if someone could tell me a good way to curl without all this, that would be great.

It depends a lot on your hair. All the methods I know have been mentioned, however they haven't been explained. The first is sponge curlers. These work well, especially in hair that is not quite straight to begin with. You can buy sponge curlers in many sizes. To use them wet a section of your hair with a spray bottle and wrap your hair around the curler. Rag curls are cheaper, just tear rags into 1" strips. Use the same method as the sponge curlers. When you reach your head with rag curlers loosely tie the rag and put in two bobby pins in an x shape to hold it in place. If you don't want your whole head curly, with either method you can fasten the curler lower down.
The last method I know of is braiding. Make sure your hair is damp. The braid your hair. The more braids you make the tighter and smaller the waves will be. This method doesn't produce curls, just waves. I'm not sure what type of hair you have, but for me this is the method that has the longest lasting results.
For all methods the curl is done when your hair is dry. It is important to have hair wet, but not dripping. It will work if your hair is dripping, it will just take much longer for your hair to dry completely. If your hair is too dry to start with, the shape will not stay.

U can use any type of rollers without using any chemicals. If u want a shine use natural olive oil r baby oil. But not too much b/c it will weight down curls. Also u can use the pillowcase, paper method. Anything u can curl your hair like a curler and tie up to keep the hair on to make curl. If u believe your hair it too thick, do try getting some advice from a beautician to get the great curler for this. I have a mixture of hair and know of others with what's considered "bad Hair" and they use curling irons. U just have to know how to use it r just get a wash and set at the beauty shop and tell them no chemicals in your hair. Bring in your own cleaner for hair...whatever it is u use. They do have products like with Tea Tree Herbs and such. And they can also curl your hair with the best irons without a burn. Good Luck!

If your hair are blond and very long (like I have) I champoo in the shower then I let it dry just like that. in the air (I live in a very hot country). When dry, I just roll the end on rollers normally used for perms and I sort of snap them closed. I don't have to sleep with the roll I just take them off a couple of hours when I am ready to go.
Some other times I attach my hair with a rubber band in a high ponney-tail and I make three breds. I then fix the end of the three breads in the rubber band so I get three loops which looks like three loops with 6 breads and let it dry like that when I go out.
Later I can let my hair down and comb it all the way down and this is another new style and wavy.
If I could see you avatar I could tell you more.

It's impossible to do that, but you can use a roller technique that will only take 10 minutes. You just put them in your hair, spray it with hairspray. Wait 10 mins and voila your hair is curly. then you can brush out the top curls if you don't want them.

The last option would be rolling it while wet & let it dry on the roller . . . otherwise, get to liking straight hair.

Sleep with 1 inch curlers in your hair to get ringlets. If you want to your hair to be wavy braid your hair at night and sleep on it.
