Bush thinks he's GOD.He's a very vengeful loser and has and will continue to use anyone and everything for his twisted personal agendas until he is the undisputed leader of every nation on Earth.

What happens if the middle east, after all this trouble, chooses, through a democratic process, NOT to embrace democracy?

No. He might not make all the right moves but I beleive that he honestly wants to help the Iraqi people and work towards a better Middle East. Even Cindy Sheehan(the biggest Bush basher in America) said this.

Yes, he wants to leave a legacy of creating Democracy in the Middle East and he will try to continue the war so he is not known as the President who brought our military to defeat.

Remember it's President BUSH in the White House, not CLINTON. So the answer to your question is NO. Bush is using the military for what it's supposed to be used for. Defending America. Not Meals-On-Wheels like Clinton did in Somalia, Kosovo, etc.
