No. It should be 21. Any state that has raised the age limit from 18 to 21 has experienced a marked decline in alcohol-related traffic accidents/fatalities involving young people ages 18-20. Inversely, any state that has lowered the drinking age from 21 to 18 has experience an increase in that kind of accidents.

Remember the deaths and serious injuries from those accidents do not just happen to the youths involved. They happened to the others in those accidents too: passengers in the youth's vehicles and those in the other cars.

The consequences of the mishaps do not just limit to deaths and injuries; they wasted tax money and valuable time spent by the police and firefighters. They cause insurance premiums to increase for everyone and heartaches to the victims' families, friends and communities.

Some have argued that it was the increase in driver's education and the enforcements of seat-belt laws that have decreased the number of accidents in the last two decades, not so much the increase in the drinking age limit.

However, if every time we've increased the drinking age limit from 18 to 21, we've experienced a reduction in accidents involving people aged 18-20, I'd vote for the increase without doubts.

Not worth the buzz!

Well, I believe that the age to join the army and drink should both be 21.. I have thought about it a lot. When you are first getting out of high school you still haven't really experienced life. I think a lot of kids don't know what they are getting themselves into (both drinking and joining the service). When I was 18, I probably would have said yes, but now that I am 23 I would have to say no. Although, I did drink a lot up until I turned 21.. I guess being legal took the fun out of it?

the perfect element you would possibly want to do is to envision the cruise strains homestead web page. There each and each and every of the age criteria is written down. The cls has a tendency to have the same regulations by the cruise however that's distinct in some ports. I knew that in some port the casinos are closed for example. also be awere that your gf is less than the age for ingesting contained in the bar. Its 21 usually. also inspect, in case you havent, your cls age requirement. some cls have a minimum age reqirement of 25 for the oldest if both arent over 21. Johan

Sorry, most 18 year olds are still depending on Mom and Dad, yes, we saved for your college tuition and now we are footing the bill, as well as helping with the car insurance and gas and maybe even buying the car for you.

No, alcohol alters your perceptions. Many people should never drink alcohol, no matter what their age.

And I am tired of hearing about the draft and taking a bullet. If you enlist and are on a military installation you can drink. So if you really want to drink, enlist. But don't use that as an excuse.

I think it should be 18, as it was years ago....it has been switched a few times.

At the age of 18 you:

are a legal adult
can go to war and fight for our country
can vote
can buy cigarettes and other tobacco products
can buy porn
hopefully have graduated high school
you are ON YOUR OWN

You should be able to drink too!

And sure there are many 18 year olds that probably aren't quote on quote "Responsible" or "Mature" enough to drink, but I think there are a MILLION 16 year olds that aren't "Responsible" or "Mature" enough to drive a car!

So - you live and learn and I was most definately drinking way before I was 18 years old.

There's my two cents....

I think it should be raised to twenty one.....It's proven medically that the mind is not fully developed at this age yet...I don't mean this as an insult but give life a chance.... Insurance rates would go down...Death rates among youth would drop and accidents alcohol related would drop in numbers...MADD would be happier and the rate of people becoming alcoholics would drop as well.

I think it should be reduced to 18 for military members only. If they can die for their country, they should be able to have a beer. I also think the AVERAGE 18 yr old in the military has more life experience and therefore maturity than the one in college. I am by no means calling the 18 yr old GI's mature... just slightly more so than a civilian. Of course there are exceptions to this, so please don't take offense and explain how you owned your own business at 18.

Sure why not you can pick up a weapon and defend the United States why not have the legal drinking age 18. I know this wont be a popular answer but hell it could be worse other countries have a younger drinking age than the US

I have always felt that you should wait until you are considered an adult to drink. It gives you 3 years to realized that you should respect the drink. An eighteen year old is still in my opinion too young to understand the consequences of drinking, and its habit forming effects. You've heard the saying knowledge is power, in this case age is knowledge. I hope that I have been some help to you.

18 is OK as long as one uses common sense.
The soldiers of the Vietnam conflict era thought so. They were old enough to be drafted yet they were not of legal age to drink until things changed.
