There are a couple different ways to become a marine officer. If as an enlisted man, you excel at what you do and have the background, the ability, and the education, you can go to OCS which is officer candidate school. However, chances of getting in OCS without college can be slim, although I know people who were offered OCS without college. The other way is to go to Annapolis Naval Academy after high school. This is bascially a military college, but you may elect to go to the Marine Corp after graduation.
The other way is to go to college, and enlist in the Marines then go to OCS.

There are a couple of ways that one can become an officer without college, but most of them involve being in the military beforehand. For instance, there is the battlefield promotion, meaning that your commander has been killed, and someone must step up to take his place. It is not unheard of for an enlisted man to be put in charge and given an officer's rank, although I don't think that it happens much any more.

Meritorous commision- based on your merit alone, you can be sent to officer candidate school, but you are expected to complete a college degree afterwards.

To go to Marine Corps OCS you must have a 4 year degree. Cut and dry.
There are other ways to become an officer but if you are planning to join as an officer, you have to go to OCS (Unless you're a Naval Academy Grad) and you must have at least a batchelor's degree.
