I mean call me skepticall but it does seem a little odd that two such major events should happen in such close proximaty and one should totally overshadow the other. Well in that one gets massive news coverage and the other, which happens to confirm it was a war for oil not justice, gets very little coverage. Do they think that we just won't notice? Also Saddam still had another full trial to sit through but instead was rushed though a shamefull execution. Any comments on this would be interesting to see.

The government of Iraq Hanged Saddam Hussein. The government of Iraq also sold its oil. Neither of these events were executed by the government of the United States.

The question is framed in a biased way such that regardless of the answer, the US looks like a military dictatorship interested in nothing more than profit. I don't think that's true exactly, though I do agree that the events so far support that conclusion to an extent - not because its true, but because events are shaking out to have that effect whether intentional or not.

I think its a good question, but the way you framed it puts a lens on whatever answers you get.

Frankly, looking at your question made me realize I just asked a question in the same way - I didn't intend to, but looking at it now makes me realize I did frame the question in a way to necessarily frame the answers.

I'm going to just let the question play out anyway. I'm going to keep it in mind when I continue to ask/answer questions. Bias when intended is one thing, when its not, but has the effect as if bias was intended is something else.

Sometimes, its hard to maintain objectivity - how can one be objective about their own perspective, which by definition, is subjective? Difficult indeed. Oh well, another factor to consider - an important one I think - no matter what your bias is because everyone has them.

I don't think that the oil rights were sold to Iraq. The oil was already Iraqi owned. What was signed was an agreement that all the factions in Iraq would get their equal share of the revenue on its sale to the market place.

It was the media that made a big thing about Sadams demise. The news on the oil arrangement would not suit that same medias purpose because it was they who propogated the view that the war against Sadam was a dastardly plot to get hold of their oil.

Hanging Saddam does not do anything, but annoy half of Iraq cause once again Sunnies have been done out of Justice they never got their day in court, again it was meant to be a highlight but Leaked Phone images ruined Usa big day, The man should have been left to rot in jail for years. Hangin was the easy way out

I know nothing about the sale of oil rights. Saddam should have been tried at the International Court in the Hague, not by the Kangaroo Court arranged by the victors.

I'm no pacifist or trendy lefty. As a former killick in the Andrew (let those who know, take note), I would kill no-one in cold blood, except, perhaps, with my food (further clue - CPO (CK))!"!!

Why would that matter?

Saddam was not in power... the oil belonged to the Iraqi people it was theirs to sell as they liked.

Ohhh Iraq sold it's oil rights! wow that is the least interesting news to date... a country with oil selling that oil.... amazing...

What does it confirm? Iraq need money so they sell their national product? geez yeah land mark case for the war for oil theory there....

Try finding a different conspiracy because that's not even worthy of the "Bush caused 9/11" bunch.

I didn't know about that...interesting.......( though to be honest, in today's level of political sleaze unfortunately not entirely novel) We're used to bad news being purposefully "buried" on a newsworthy day.

I thought that the execution was carried out under Iraqi law - they had a certain (short) timescale to carry out their judgement so I'm not sure it was "rushed". It was, (I think?) a decision made by an Iraqi court under an elected goverment...

Which countries have the Technogy of producing and marketing WMD?. Iraq has only Oil, it sell it and buys anything it wants, now who supplied it with WMD. First you inspire, motivate, and encourage him to fight Iran. Subsequently when he refuses and wants to return the goods and get his money back, he is accused of having WMD and hanged, What about the suppliers?
