Yes. I know loads of resturants that serve them. Never seen Sweet Potato Steak fries, only "fast food" style thin ones. Then are as crispy, but they are stringier on the inside.

Yes they can be made into fries. The texture is similar to that of fried potatoes. The sweet potatoes brown faster than regular potatoes due to the sugar content and I feel they don't get as crisp as regular fries. My mother used to make them for us when she was alive. I hope that I have been some help to you.

I can share these recipe with you ....Baked Sweet Potato "Fries"
Baked "fries" are the way to go when you're cutting back fat. These baked sweet potato sticks are so flavorful, you'll never know the difference.
1 pound sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/2-inch-thick "fries"
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
Preheat oven to 425 deg F. Lightly coat baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray
In large bowl, combine sweet potatoes, oil, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat. Spread fries in single layer on baking sheet.
Bake 10 minutes. Turn fries over. Continue baking until tender and lightly browned, about 10 minutes longer.
~~~~~ Enjoy! ~~~~~ Good luck! _;-)
Yes. They come out just like French Fries. They just taste like sweet potatoes(yams). Use a mandoline if you want them all to be cut uniformly, if not just cut them up and fry ar bake them. They are espically good with a pinch of salt and a liberal coating of cinnamon and sugar. Enjoy!
I actually love them, the texture is like some potatoes, crisp on outside a bit mushier then a typical fry on the inside. But yummy!
