The Pit is dog aggressive. It's a trait of the breed. If you are intent on keeping this dog, do not allow it to be around other dogs. Period. (I wouldn't let her near one of my pups either) By your account she's already attacked three dogs. Even dogs she's previously been friendly with could be attacked. I can pretty much guarantee that your pit will attack another dog in the future. It will require some serious and professional training to help with this and even then there are no guarantees.
I'm more concerned about her biting a child. A well-bred pit should not be people-aggressive (people-aggression is a learned behavior). If you have kids of your own, I would get rid of the dog. Especially if you have small children. (A child's face is right at the dog's mouth level and dog's don't always understand that kids are little people).
Find a professional dog trainer who specializes in aggressive dogs (your vet can probably help with that) and follow their advice. You will have to be vigilant and it will take a lot of work.
Also, look up laws concerning dog-bites in your area. Many areas have a one-strike rule. The dog bites a person (or kills another dog) once and it has to be put down. There may also be a substantial fine for the owners of the dog. This is information you should know for the future.
Good luck

First of all the real question is are all of these dogs that she is attacking female dogs? This could be your problem. Pit bulls are very dominant dogs and usually a female pit bull will be more aggressive with other female dogs. I have two female pit bulls and one male and another male dog that is not a pit bull. I can tell you from experience that pit bull females are the most dominant. The best thing for you to do is spay her if she is not spayed and then just keep her away from other female dogs. It is not that she is a bad dog, it is just that she sees other female dogs trying to take over her territory. Some dogs also do not do good with children, they also see them as trying to invade their territory. The problem with this could be because she was not introduced to children at a young age, and hasn't spent alot of time around kids. Kids can seem weird to some dogs, especially territorial dogs like pit bulls. Take her to the vet and get her spayed if she is not already, then keep her away from other female dogs, when there are small kids around put her in the back yard, or a cage, or something. Then if all of this does not work, you could always give her to a friend or a family member that might not have kids around, or other female dogs. I would not recommend putting her down until all options have been waived. Pit Bulls are really good dogs, if you raise them right, and if you know how to deal with their personalities. If you ever get a pit bull again I would recommend introducing it to all kinds of dogs, people, and places while it is a puppy up until it is about a year and a half, also try and get good training. There is a good book you can read also called " pitbulls for dummies" maybe you should buy it. I am so sorry that your experience with your pit doesn't seem so good, but usually with the right kind of training and introduction to the world around them they are the best family dogs in the world, and they have an endless need to give affection. Try and see if you can find a trainer that works specifically with pit bulls, they are very smart dogs and you should be able to change the problem. All the bad things that you hear about pit bulls is not true. My three pit bulls get along very well, the one that doesn't get along well is my wheaten terrier. Any dog can be mean, any dog can fight, I have met some pretty nasty small dogs but when they bite people or other dogs people think it is cute. You have to remember that this is an animal, it has instincts, no matter what breed you get. Pit bulls were once the American dog. They saved lives of soldiers in WWI, they have been in movies like the little rascals, they are great dogs, it is the people that train some of them to be bad that are bad. You could have this problem with any breed, it just depends on the dog. I have seen muts attack my pit bulls at the dog park, I have seen dogs barking and growling at my pit bulls when i walk them while my pit bulls are just smelling the grass, so NO it is not the breed. Do some homework on the breed, read it up, and if you still can get it right with this one then do what you have to do, but don't be ignorant like some people and just presume that they are all bad because of just some of them. I call this doggy breed discrimination. For some reason the human race finds that it is reasonable to label a whole group as one way just because of the few that do the bad deed. example: All pit bulls are bad because of the bad things that some of them do. All black people are drug dealers and thugs because some of them are. All white people are racist because some of them are. People for some reason make these irrational references, please do not be one of these people and label the breed as bad. In the end it all comes down to the way you raise them to be, the things you introduce them to at a young age, whether they are spayed or not, and whether you give them alot of love and attention. Also, if she is already spayed then it is just a dominance problem, try and see how well she does with male dogs, if you still have a problem then talk to a vet or trainer, or just keep her away from other dogs.

this pit has bitten a little girl's arm and punctured it and it is still alive ? You are a better human being than I am cause if that were me that dog would be so six feet under . What are you waiting for the dog to kill something or someone ? I dont blame your brother's girlfriend cause she is scared of this dog . I wish you would talk this over with your husband about putting the dog down. Does he realize what this dog can do.? good luck.

Gosh, hate to tell you, but pit bulls are best when they are only dogs. They just are not good around other dogs. As far as the dog biting a child, this is not a good sign, sorry to say, because personlly, I love a pit myself, but alot of this is inbred due to people using them for fighting. These people are ruining the breed and it has already been banned in several states. People need to made more aware of their dogs background breeding, the way it was treated as a pup, so that we can all save these dogs.

If this dog has attacked once, it will continue, it has gotten a "taste for blood", this animal is not safe around any child or other animal, forget how angry your husband is going to be, just call animal control and tell them about the attacks, they will take the dog away, if this seems harsh, consider the consequences if the dog kills some ones pet, or harms a child, your husband and you would face a lot of legal problems, especially because you already know it bites

Despite the predispositions that people have about these dogs, Pitty's are not so mean or predisposed to bitting or fighting any more than any other dog.
However, they are in the "Terrier" family and therefore do need some extra special obedience training, and needs to have rules, boundaries and limitations.
Taking your dog to obedience training classes will help contribute to his rehabilitation, and they will have more clear and better answers for you and your specific dog and your dogs situation.
Hope this helps, best of luck to you, your husband and Cheyanne.

There are a few real keys to dog training, whether you are trying to train your dog to come when called, sit, stop barking or any other behavior. Understanding their importance is critical to achieving rapid results that are long lasting and help develop the bond between you and your dog. Learn more http://OnlineDogTraining.enle.info/?d5H4
The first is simple; you must win your dogs mind. If you don’t achieve this first then you will be struggling the all the way. When I talk about winning your dogs mind what I really mean is that your dog looks to you for all the decisions. Before you do anything else watch one of the amazing video sites that show you the 5 Golden rules to establishing yourself as the pack leader. If you aren’t putting these in place then you are setting yourself up to fail. Just at the crucial point where you really want your dog to listen they will go and do their own thing. For sure your dog may play ball occasionally or even most of the time, you may even have a dog that is obedient 99% of the time, however if you want a dog who always listens to you and does as you ask then you need to win your dogs mind.
The second key to success is to motivate your dog. It is really important that you discover what it is that your dog enjoys both in terms of exercise and play but also in terms of a reward. If you can make the experience enjoyable then you will both achieve more and look forward to training.
Some dogs love to fetch, others love agility, and other dogs simply love obedience training, or swimming out into water and retrieve. At least to start with find out what your dogs love is and help them develop this, what I am saying is work with your dog. The other point to recognize is to make training enjoyable reward your dog.

You need to give her to a shelter that knows how to handle pit bulls. Is your Husband going to wait until the dog bites your babies!!!!! Pit bulls are more violent by nature but even the gentlest dog will bite if you accidentally step on its foot etc.
