A cousin of mine picked black as the color of her bridesmaid dresses and then let them pick out the style they wanted, that way they could wear them more than once.

My bridesmaids are actually the same way. I am letting them choose their own dresses as long as they are in the same color... that way they still look like a cohesive unit but can each find a dress that suits their body type. We just went dress shopping yesterday and sure enough, they all gravitated towards different types of dresses. But I think the only way this could work is if they each choose a different dress... if you had two bridesmaids wearing the same dress it might look a little odd. Good luck!!

It sounds like the girls have chosen and agreed on a dress already? All that matters is if you like it. Believe me, the girls no matter what they wear will not show you up or take away from your beauty and sparkle the day of your wedding. There is just no competing with a bride on her wedding day, her beauty is unmatchable, even before hand when she's wearing jeans and an old zip up sweatshirt!

If you are not that fond of the dress they chose then I would suggest getting together with all of them and looking at new dresses. Possibly have some in mind before you go in. You want all the girls to be comfortable but they also want you to be happy with how they look, so this shouldnt be a problem for them.

Good luck, I know its hard when you have so many different persoanlities and styles looking for one dress, but remember, when the gavel falls you have the final say. They will suck it up!

Don't pick a dress pick a colour. Let each girl get a dress that works for her...just decide if they should all be long or short...you say tea length so just let them pick a style that they like. As long as they are all the same colour it should be fine. If they've found one that they all like then go with it... even if it seems to simple in comparison to yours. Remember that they will be carrying flowers and you can always use accessories to dress it up.

The main thing to remember is that the wedding is a celebration that you should enjoy...don't let the stress get to you. Take a deep breath (and perhaps a glass of wine) and remind yourself that you are going to enjoy the day!

Here's an idea, however I do not know where all of your bridesmaids live. If they are all close, get together one morning and head to the bridal boutique to try on dresses, then head for kunch together to discuss the options that were tried on earlier. I would suggest trying to sneak in a camera (only so that you can reference the dresses later, to compare them)! My bridesmaids and I did this and it was great. Everyone lived within the same state so we just planned ahead and worked it out! And after lunch all of us then went for pedicures (my favorite past time) and further discussed the big upcoming event! (BONDING EXPERIENCE)
Each girl tried on each dress that I liked best, but in the different sizes, so we could see how they would look on EVERYONE!
If all of your girls do not live locally, see if they could go to a bridal boutique in their area and try on that style dress and take a quick picture then email it to you! Even if they don't go to a bridal boutique, they may be able to find that basic style dress in a department store and then try it on and snap a pic!
Either way, if you want the same dress on everyone and want it to look good on everyone, then you need to see everyone wearing it! Make a fun girly day out of it if you can!
Or you could do as someone suggested before mine, have the same color and material and different styles! I have seen it done many times before. Not the way I prefer, just because I am a stickler for unity, but, many people are turning to this option!
Good luck and congrats! Overall it is your day and your choice!
However, please, for your friendships sake, choose a dress that each girl is comfortable wearing!

Given that the bridesmaids vary in heigth and weight, then it is best to keep the dresses simple and not too wide and puffy. It sounds as though they have all come up with a choice that they agree on. Unless you find their choice utterly horrible, then why not just go with what they have chosen and everyone will be happy. Bottom line: It's your wedding! You are the one that needs to be happy and no matter what the cordinator (or anyone else says) as long as you're happy, that's all that matters! Congratulations and Best Wishes to you and your groom!

I guess I lucked out with my girls at my wedding. They were sizes 5, 7, 15, and 17 - so quite a spread. Found a nice dress they all could live with, and was great for the variety of body types.
Something I've seen done for weddings which is a good idea, is to choose a colour and length, for example, and have the girls choose something suited to their shape. One can wear sleeveless, another cap sleeves, one with v-neck, the other boat neck, etc.

You know - the simpliest thing to do is pick a color, fabric and basic style (pink - tea length- no sleeves - chiffon or pink - floor length - satin, etc) and then let them pick. They will each pick a style that looks good on them and so they will all look great, but because many details are similar, they will still look coordinated. A lot of brides are finding this to be a perfect, stressless solution.

For bridesmaides of different shapes chose a dress with an A-line it looks good on body shape; something simple, and something they could wear again.

I'm in the process of planning my own and have girls that are different sizes and shapes. What I did was take each girl individually and have them pick out their own dresses, but keeping the same length and color as the others. I managed to have all the girls in just about the same type of dress, you might not, but at least they will have the same color and length and that's okay.
