I noticed that some folks said that at least he came over. But I caught the underlying problem "your boyfriend makes up so many excuses" SO obviously this is not the first/last time this has happened. If he cant make time for you and always seems to have an answer for everything, then it is time for you start making some moves for yourself.

Because he's got things he'd rather do than spend time with you. Did he not know the game was on today when he made these plans with you? Time to find a new boyfriend. One that actually WANTS to spend time with you.

Atleast he still spent time with you. But still... to call you to tell you he's not coming over just because of a game? I think he realized that was a jackass thing to do and came to see you. So I think you should just let it go.
But remember this quote for future use:
"Don't make someone a priority who only makes you an option."

Then tell him "you tell me one thing and do another". Tell the truth up front most headace are avoided this way. At least you will know up front how it going ot be. Plus if he still lies then you need to let that go. No one wants that in their life no matter how good they are LOL worst case he might even know he doing it now that a really big problem

it is because he loves you, if he did not he would not bother to make excuses. try holding off on sex for more than 2 hours and maybe he will hang longer. do not just pop into the rack with him as soon as he arrives. make him wait and earn it. keep those panties up longer.

Maybe he was always a liar.
Not to much sense in asking him, just watch his actions and decide if his lies are tiny ones or are they deal breakers.
Also, I do think that there is a difference between a lie and him changing his mind

he may be slowly getting out of the relationship and he is a coward not to tell you honestly.
If he keeps making excuses then you be honest with him/tell him how you feel..
