Of course it's normal. Think about it, first dates are scary. You know very little about the other person, and for all you know they are a total wacko. But, the fun is in the gamble. That's why a lot of people still go to Vegas, even though they lose. It isn't that you go on first dates to find problems, but it's the chance of "winning" that special someone that you can be with.
About entering relationships, that is a bit different. Yes, it's normal to be afraid of that too... but for different reasons. When you are about to enter in a relationship you are about to give up control of your life. Well, you aren't giving up all of the control, but you are allowing a person into your private time, your private world, and you are trusting them to like being there.
I hope this helps. Don't let the fears push you away though. It is better to know than to always be wondering.

Yes, its normal to be nervous in this and many other situations, you can consider it as a human mechanism of defense, and you'll probably remain nervous until you face the situation, just dont worry. Although it does show you are slightly uncomfortable with something (could be some aspect of yourself)

I am always afraid when I enter a new relationship because I don't want to get hurt, but I found someone who is worth the trouble and someone where I don't have the fear that he will hurt me. Self preservation is always there whenever there is a chance that something could go wrong. You just have to find someone who suppresses that feeling and ultimately makes it disappear all together. I wish you the best sweetie.

Yes! This is totally normal, just think you may be afraid he wont like you, or you will do something embarassing, I think everyone is nervous on a first date.

Of course it's normal. The amount of things that we worry about before a first date or relationship is just ridiculous. Anyways, just be yourself and don't worry to much about the future.

Yes, especially if you are young and the whole dating/relationship thing is new to you. Take it slow, and only do what feels right. Good luck!

ABSOLUTELY!! All new experiences lead to some hesitation and nervousness. The important thing is to always listen to that little voice in your head and to not let the nervousness stop you from having a good time.
