There seem to be an insane number of young people who have NO idea how their bodies work and how to avoid getting pregnant, or how to tell if they are. I had 3 sex ed courses by the time I was a freshman in highschool, then a whole section on reproduction in 10th grade Bio. I'm not even from a "liberal" area, so I was just wondering how all these people are so clueless about how things work.

We had a basic reproduction class, given by our school nurse and our regular classroom teacher (no extra funding needed there), in 5th AND 6th grade. An actual semester of Health Class was mandatory in 9th grade. And even the basic biology that they teach should still give some clue to the workings of a human body, I know mine did.

LIke all of their other classes, these kids are not paying attention.

The number of could I be pregnant questions totally amazes me, even anonymously, I would not want people to see how ignorant I am.

Good question. At primary school older grades learn about their bodies and the reproductive system.Where I live their are conflicting opinions about how sex ed is taught at high schoolsMost non Christians schools offer sex ed.Students have a lifelike baby they have to take home and look after.Dont know how well the program is received or whether it put kids off getting pregnant.I dont know about America.

Our sixth graders in my school learn about he male and female anatomy in health class.

My friend works for Planned Parenthood in California and she is always doing presentations for the local public high schools.

I guess it all depends on where you live. Often times they cut health class due to budget reasons.

NO it's still taught in school. But too many kids are learning from their peers who DON't know how it works. Or even worse, learning form their 25 year old parents who didn't know how it happened when they got pregnant.
