Why do we have match.com, eharmoney.com, does going out to coffeeshops, libraries, shops in general, maybe clubs and bars, not do it for us anymore. We have technology, we must use it for everything. Why do we need something that is heartless, cold, and has no feelings telling us who to love? Or we could be like Flavor Flav and New York; having a contest on television to see what guy/girl would be good looking enough that we just hope they have a good heart?

To me, it definitely isn't acceptable to find love over the computer. How could you love someone you barely even know and havent even met in person?? It just isnt possible if you ask me...

I speak from experience here, finding someone to date in a bar is not good.. half the people there are drunk out of their minds and dont know whats going on. and well if im out shopping i dont want to be bothered by some guy hitting on me. So the net was the perfect place for me to find a boyfriend. I could browse profiles and contact the ones that I felt that I could relate to. and then take it from there gradually getting to know the other person, instead of heading straight into disaster. Its really no different then hooking up with a stranger in a bar. only the fact that u dont have to rush into something over the net.

Have you tried on-line dating? We have technology, why not use it. If you want to meet someone at the bar, by all means please do so. However there is a certain comfort level you get from meeting someone on-line. Plus you have several options of potential mates (which beats staying home for a week praying that your crush at the library calls you). I have tried Match, EHarmony and Cupid and had great success. And guess what? I met my boyfriend of 2 years on Cupid.com , moved to another state to be with him and will be getting married soon.

It works but you need to be open to whatever method works best for you.

I don't know that it matters when or where we meet as long as we are honest with each other. Bars and clubs are just not a good place for me and I have mostly married friends anyway...no more hanging out together any more, I just look pathetic sitting there alone. In my living room online I can feel at ease with any situtation that comes up.

I think a big reason for online match making's popularity these days is convenience. People can find someone they know has the same interests that they do, and they don't have to go to the coffee shop, or the library, or clubs. I think that can be stressful, but I myself am just hoping it slaps me in the face one day. :)

well, those dating things are stupid. but i met my boyfriend on an online game, and have been talking on the phone since June. and he asked me out in june, but we've been friends since January 19th 2006, so for about a year we've known each other. it feels like we've known each other longer, and we've seen each other in person.
it's kind of stupid for the match.com, people don't know how to go out and have fun!!

It must not be the end all. I just got out of the tub, getting ready and I'm out of here! The net is great fun but we must get out and mingle. : )
