I am marrying a man who is an army officer and I have two young children that will be living with us full-time.

Yes, they will qualify as dependants. Even if he does not adopt them, they will be living with you and he will be responsible for them. Once you are married you will have to go to the DEERS office at the installation you are at and here you will do all the necessary paperwork.

He might be able to. In my 24 years in the Navy a few were able to classify their step children as dependents, some were not able to. Much of it depends on the support status of the children. If their biological father is paying more than 50% of their support then most likely not. Your best advice would be to contact your husbands base legal office and have them advise your in addition to his contacting the Personnel Office on base who could advise him of the necessary paperwork he would need to file.

yes there will be a few more papers but they shouldnt be a problem. i am a soldier whom married a mother of a 5 year old and have had no problem with enrolling him into everything.
