My cat (15) wasn't feeling well this morn. I couldn't get her to meow (which is way UNSUSUAL for her), she wouldn't eat, wouldn't come up to get petted, but just about 5 min ago seems to have gotten better.
I wonder if she had the flu?

A cat's immune system can be overwhelmed with cat viruses that cause flu-like symptoms - stuffy head, maybe a fever, lack of appetitie, lethargy. I don't know why your cat wasn't feeling well this morning and it doesn't sound like flu.

I feel really great most days and there are days I am not feeling as spiffy as others. It usually just a passing thing - I may take an extra nap or postpone things like weeding the garden etc.

So I think kitty is just having a down day. If you see that she is getting uncomfortable and her behavior lasts more than a day then it is something a vet should investigate.

Cats do get the flu, which can be treated with antibiotics prescribed by the veterinarian. There could be a lot of reasons why cats won't eat or at differently, could be behavioural or could that its sick or sometimes depressed. What you need to notice is how often does your cat feel this way, notice if it is not eating enough or drinking too much water, or its urinating more than normal, things like that. If she continues to not eat , I 'll say take it to the vet.

Yes, there is a cat flu, but it can't be transmitted from cats to people or the other way around. Like with people, they've had to come into contact with another cat who has the flu, so if kitty lives on her own & doesn't mix with others, it probably isn't the flu. Plus, the flu usually has other upper respiratory symptoms, like coughiing, congestion etc. Given her age, it sounds to me like you should take her to the vet for a checkup if she's not back to normal by tomorrow morning, or if she gets any worse. Good luck.

In 2010 I lost my two oldest cats. The oldest was 19 1/2 years old and the other 16. I fed them purina cat chow the brand named one. Both of them were inside cats. I never let them outside unless I took them to the vet for their annual checkup.

Regardless of the age of the cat, the problem is called cat f\lue and needs veterinarian intervention if you really care about the health of the cat and youir own.
Don't wait, get your lil puss to the doc.
