It is a hard for physical minds to understand spiritual concepts. I daresay no one will ever come to a complete conclusion about the matter. However, I will use an illustration: Just as an egg, contains the shell, the white, and the yoke....all three together make one egg. And, none of them will exist independently of the other.) The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit make up the Godhead....they are one in spirit and purpose....that purpose being the salvation of men's souls.
SHELBY...you asked a question... "why must Christians and Pagans constantly be at each others' throats? there are many similarities...Why can't more of us accept - not believe in, but ACCEPT - other religions?" ....I will answer your question with another question: Why would anyone want to accept a religion which is false? There is only one religious truth and God has spoken it in his Word.

I believe that there are many more than 3 different entities which make up God. I like to use this analogy:
God is a diamond, and every deity of the world is a different facet on that diamond. Examples of these facets are Jesus, Allah, Jupiter, Brigid, Freya, etc.
I'm Pagan, and we have a similar version, that uses the Goddess instead of god. That would be the Goddess as the Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone.
See? It's really similar. now, this may be getting a bit off-topic, but I would like to throw it in as a side-note. why must Christians and Pagans constantly be at each others' throats? there are many similarities...Why can't more of us accept - not believe in, but ACCEPT - other religions?

Why is it so hard to believe that there is only one God, or ten Gods, or no God at all?
Why can't people accept that everyone has the right (indeed the responsibility) to believe as they choose?
And is the Holly Spirit the one who was born on Christmas?

Because some people attempt to apply their view of what is "logical" to the divine. God simply IS. Any person who attempts to understand the divine nature is taking part in the ultimate foolishness. Our brains don't like things which are infinite, and certainly don't like things which don't behave in a manner easily understood by our puny intellect.

I think belief is something that is taught and learned mainly from childhood. It is harder to understand and explain than it is to believe.I was taught from a young age of the Holy Trinity, so for me it isn't hard to believe, to me it just is.

You are right. Only physical things can be separated because seperation is physical. since G-d isn't physical, G-d is one. His whole being is one. And there is no other Oneness other than Him.
