On March 12, 2000, Pope John Paul II apopogized for past wrongs:
We cannot fail to recognize the infidelities to the Gospel committed by some of our brethren, especially during the second millennium.
Let us ask pardon for the divisions which have occurred among Christians, for the violence some have used in the service of the truth and for the distrustful and hostile attitudes sometimes taken towards the followers of other religions.
We humbly ask forgiveness for the part which each of us has had in these evils by our own actions, thus helping to disfigure the face of the Church.
With love in Christ.

Pope John Paul should make multi-confessions for the faults of the his OWN CHURCH. CATHOLIC CHURCH aka The "True Church?" They allowed hundreds of priests to serve while they sexually abused children and did not report the incidents to the police.
The Bible says,
Scripture prohibits FALSE DOCTRINE
Titus 1:9, Colossians 3:8, 1 Timothy 4:1-2, 2 Peter 2:3, 2 Peter 3:17
Scripture prohibits FALSE PROPHETS
Deuteronomy 18:20-22, Isaiah 9:14-17, Jeremiah 5:31, Jeremiah 14:14-16, Jeremiah 23:16-40, Ezekiel 13:1-23, 2 Peter 2:1
Scripture prohibits LYING PASTORS
1 Timothy 3:8 Titus 1:7, 2 Peter 2:3
Scripture prohibits IMMORAL PASTORS
1 Timothy 3:2, 2 Peter 2:2
Scripture prohibits SELF-WILLED pastors
2 Peter 2:10

solid question. sure, John Paul the 2d remains seen large. he is going to be a saint! i do not imagine he became very smug. that's basically my opinion. he's a pope to be remembered. regardless of if he became Catholic, he visited alot of sorts of church homes and individuals with different religions, alongside with Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama, and he became a Tibetan Buddhist! particular, he would were occupied with some abuse scandels, yet he did ask for forgiveness really, and as I say, the Christian and/ or Catholic way is to forgive and to settle for human beings. He expressed respect to others, alongside with a Soviet chief, and at the same time as he became almost killed, he forgave the individuals. i believe, with all my heart, that the Catholics who brought about havoc are sorry for what they did. Being adversarial in the route of the church received't help. that's going to easily reason more desirable resentment to three those who're innocuous and had not something to do with it. human beings make blunders! imagine about the apostle, Paul, as an party. did not he attempt to kill the Christians? Later, regardless of the indisputable fact that, he repented and grew to develop into into the mild of the Lord. the biggest problem to narrate on is, Christians and Catholics both love and respect God.

I believe it was 2002. I was just listening to a podcast that touched on that subject (no pun intended) the other day.

It would be very refreshing to see some other denominations be as outspoken with their pasts.
