My friend and I are thinking about getting a tattoo together, we've been friends for 17 years and haven't fought once...we want to get something that symbolizes our friendship. Any ideas?
Also, if you're from Thunder Bay Ontario, do you know the best place to go to get a tattoo?

get something that means something to you. it doesn't have to be something that "represents" friendship. like for instance if you both love candy canes... then you could get candycane tattoos. whatever represents your friendship. not something generic and "friendshippy" i promise if you get something that is specifically meaningful to you you will love it for much longer.

One of my dearest friends and I got tattooed together about 7 years ago. We both got a tattoo that symbolizes the Hindu goddess Shakti. Mine is on the back of my neck and hers is a few inches below. The 2 tat's are slightly different but ultimately the same. It's funny, because I've moved to 800 miles away since then so I very rarely see her, but whenever someone notices and comments on my tattoo I think of her. It keeps her close to me.

NEVER get matching tattoos. Get two different tattoos, perhaps with the same subject matter. But in my years of professional tattooing, I've done so many cover-ups of matching tattoos it's unreal. It's almost guaranteed that if you get matching tattoos, the friendship will fall apart. I see it every single day, and I don't like fixing people's mistakes. For ideas, check out BMEzine.com. DON'T copy any of the tattoos exactly, use them for inspiration.

2 friends I know each got tattooed together. One got a tie-dye peace signs (serious dead-head) the other a tye-died shamrock (totally Irish girl) on the INSIDES of their opposite ankles. Cute as hell. My daughter got a cow on her back, for reasons too complicated to explain, and got an "A" (for her friend) in a blade of the grass. The whole tattoo was to honor her friend, who passed away after about 17 years of friendship.

My husband said you should get a Ying-Yang. One has the Ying and the other has the Yang. You are the Ying to her/his Yang. Preferably on the lower back- that's just hot.
