I downloaded Yahoo! Messenger for Mac 3.0 Beta 1 and the file downloads onto my computer under "Applications" but when I double click on the file it will not open. Please help!

ok, I have the same setup you do. After you download yahoo messenger, it will unpack and you will see a disk icon on your desktop. (Given that you have told the internet browser to download to your desktop.) Double click on the Yahoo messenger disk icon and then you will see the YM icon, copy that to your application folder. Then drag the original disk icon over to your trash. Now open your applications folder and open YM. Any questions? email me

if the file says .exe at the end of the file name, it is a windows file and can only be opened on a computer running widows. check if there is a Mac version of the program on the download page.
