I got my cat Prince neutered yesterday, he's 10 months old. Here's the problem. He hasn't used the litter box since we brought him home. Which is around 30 hours. He also hasn't went anywhere in the house, and he's spending all his time sleeping (NOT like him) and the odd time he will get up to eat and drink. Should I be concerned?

There are only a few vets in my small city, they are all closed and will not be open until monday. There are no "Emergency" animal clinics where I live. I just tried calling his regular veterinarian and she told me she doesn't do house calls, and there is no answer at the other's house.

He's recoperating... You try having your coconuts taken away from you and see if you feel like eating or drinking. I would want to sleep all day. He's probably in alot of pain. If he's not better soon as your Vet if he will give him pain meds.

Your cat is likely just recovering. I got my 8 month old female kitten spayed about 3 weeks ago and she didnt use the litter box either for the first 30-36 hrs that she was home. Think about it- he just had surgery, is likely uncomfortable and isn't drinking or eating much yet. If he isn't drinking or eating much there really isn't a need to go to the bathroom- yet.
Keep an eye on him and he'll probably be just fine and go to the bathroom when he is ready too. If he hasn't gone by tomorrow give the vet a call when they're open or call a vet in another town that has emergency services/some you can talk to if you are really concerned right now. My cat when to the bathroom eventually and she's now running around like an idiot and has recovered quite well.

Did he pee before he went into surgery? If he did, then perhaps his bladder isn't full enough for him to want to pee. Also, he may have "expressed" himslef at the vet's (my cat did that when he was neutered). At any rate, a cat can hold his pee for 24 hrs and bit longer (I've flown witn my cat on long international flights with long airport waits and my cat never peed in his carrier). They can also hold their poop for a couple of days. But if you're worried, why not call the people who performed the surgery and ask them what the "go" is?
Also, your cat is sleeping a lot becuase of the anesthetic - it takes a while for that to wear off. He may also be feeling a bit sore. Offer him really tasty smelly canned cat food. Most cats will use the toilet right after they eat - funny that.

He will be fine. He is just recooperating. When my kitten got spayed, she slept and I know she was really sore. Give him some time. Oh and you are doing a good thing my neutering your pet. Yeah for you! If he is still not eating and stuff in about one more day call the vet immediately!

Poor Prince looses his wedding tackle and you want him to be himself. Well well. Give to poor little guy at little more time to get on the mend. If you are really concerned, call your vet.
