Rack him a good one. Squeeze his testicles when he least expects it. Tell him that doesn't come close to what labor feels like and when he can endure that for hours on end then and ONLY then can he name the baby anything!
Put your foot down or try to come to an agreement about another name. Kids are horribly cruel in this day and age and will only get worse by the time yours goes to school. If you love your child you won't let him do this to him/her. No one is going to give your hubby an award for being clever or admire his adoration of cars.

In my opinion a man has just as much right to help pick out a name for the baby however, in this case that is different. Don't lie about it just tell your husband like it is. This kid will get teased so bad in school if she is named after a camaro. I mean come on Camera? Especially kids nowadays they can be very cruel believe me i know. You don't want your daughter or son getting picked on and humilated like that do you? Stand your ground also what about Cameron? I have yet to see a kid with this name get biked on.

You can't talk him out of it--You have to TELL him NO WAY...You will not be able to convince him because this is not a rational idea--he obviously loves cars and has this plan--it's going to happen too unless you stick up for yourself and say forget it--What are your name ideas? Start talking about those and tell him--this is what I'm naming the baby --what do you think about these names, etc...Just assume it like he is doing and maybe he will come around...

It sounds like you are letting him decide everything--put a stop to that NOW because when the baby is born you will have many more situations where you will want to let your voice be heard--Start practicing now...

Even pronounced like Camaro but with an A, Camera is something you take pictures with, not a car. Use that as an argument.

I do like Mercedes for a girl, it means mercy.

He wants to name his daughter Camera? Wow, that would definitely be a unique name but he needs to think about the teasing she is going to endure as a child in school. Children can be so cruel sometimes. His daughter is the one who is going to be hurt by this, not him. Try explaining these things to him and maybe asking his family and your family their opinion on it. It's one thing to love sports cars (hey I love to see a nice 69 Camero!! ) but to take it to that extreme is a little, well, crazy. I hope that for the sake of your daughter, you can talk him out of it. Good luck!!!

Camera? Think about that... it will not be pronounced like the car but rather the device used to take pictures! There is nothing wrong with exotic names but that one will set a girl up for a lifetime of teasing! Either that or she'll grow up to be a stripper!

Honey I am in the same boat. I am expecting my 3rd child in May and we don't know the sex yet. But my hubby wants to name this child, since I named our 2 daughters. He wants to use Porsha Lynn or Ford Alexander. I like Ford, but not Porsha. I am going to let him have his way, because this is our last child and I will hear about it the rest of our life. I guess if our child doesn't like their name, they can blame daddy.

My hubby drives nothing but Ford Mustangs, not sure why he wants the name Porsha.

Try for a slight compromise that doesn't sound so much like a car. Cameron sounds a lot like Camaro, but isn't as embarassing for the kid. If that doesn't work, put your foot down, and tell him that you don't want your child made fun of in school because he/she has a stupid name.

How about Camaron? Cameron? In my mind it would work for either a girl or a boy, and you can still push that "Camaro" is the root and it is still tasteful. Barring that (happy?) compromise, how about using his chosen name as a middle name... that way the name is still used, but not as prominently.

Good luck.
