Esai is indeed a variation of Isaiah.

His Hebrew name is ישעיהו (yisha'ayahu), and his father's name is Amoz, or in Hebrew אמוץ (amotz)- not to be mistaken with Amos (עמוס, amos) who was a latter prophet.

Esai is a shortened form of Esaias, which is an older English form of the Biblical prophet's name Isaiah.
