Unlike the racist who gave you a crap answer, I would give you real advice and leave the antisemetic remarks to the clowns.

You found a van for 5 bills and it has what you want. presuming it does run and has a clean free title, make them a reasonable offer of 450. You really don't have a much to trim off of a 500 dollar vehicle. If they are firm and it is what you want, then pay what it is worth to you.

Good luck.

Flash cash. Seriously--few people can resist a wad of hundreds. You'll get $500 off the price this way. And pick your price beforehand; keep the extra in a different pocket. If you got someone impervious to the bundle of bucks, you can always pull another hundred out from wherever.

500 for a running/driving van? that is equipped to suit you? by the time you hemm-haw around looking for advice on how to beat him up on price, someone is gonna buy it out from under you. it will serve you right, too. what do you expect? if they run and drive at all, they are almost assuredly worth a grand. same as a used pickup. worth a grand in almost any shape running.
