I to am a stay at home mom and this year we moved into a bigger home. Now yest it is more to keep clean and I am a clutter bug but hey as long as we pick up after ouselves its not that much different unless we are increasing by an absorbantant amount. The thing I really didn't even take into consideration was that all of the bills would be higher. Electric, more lights, more to heat and to cool. The gas, more to heat! Just all around costs more. That can drive someone crazy if you are the one taking care of all the household bills and your husband diesn't understand that area of the budget.
No it is nicer to have a playroom and have the childrens things in there so that their rooms stay clean. I do have someone come in about once a month and totally scrub everything and that is great!
So it is up to you and what type of home you keep and what type of budget you are keeping. If it is tight now, don't do it. If you are ok, then move on up. Make sure y'all still have dinner together.
Hope this helps!!

Obviously some of the above answerers are men. Life is much easier when kids have a space to get away and be by themselves (especially when friends come over). When you spend all day trying to keep a tiny home organized it is enough to make you throw in the towel. Obviously you are not talking about doubling or tripling your house. A two story home with a place for kids to play upstairs is a good idea. And, I'm sure if your husband was home all day with the kids he would be rushing to find a realtor!

think about it...bigger means more time spent on cleaning it ... bigger means more spaces, so u will have the desire to buy more things to fill up the house... after all, you are the one who's cleaning..so it's ur call.... my suggestion is that u can start by cleaning ur own place like selling or donating those things that u bought and it's never been used! trust me if you are not using it now..it's unlikely u are going to need it in the future

If it has lots of cupboards, closet space and drawers, it absolutely will be better. The more places to put things away, the less things are out there cluttering up the place.

Yes yes and yes. More space is better for everyone. Their 'personal space' gets bigger and they get more comfortable.
Unless you are a real pig family a bigger house is a lot easier to keep uncluttered becasue you have more places to put things in order.
Ive lived in bedsits and they were always a pain. I now have 300 sq metres to myself and its tidy, clean......and empty.....and lonely.......sob :(

De-clutter and organize first. Streamline and get rid of all the junk and see how it feels.
