The dish soap method, even if done in the days following haircoloring, will normally not completely remove the dye. It usually just fades it considerably (leaving your hair a bit damaged and with a not so attractive color). Since it's been so long since you colored your hair though this method probably won't do much for the color at all. You could utilize a do-at-home hairstripper, but those without extensive experience with them (i.e. a vast majority of the population) can make their color even worse by using them. Not only that, but not every brand of stripper is created equal, and some will leave hair looking awful no matter how well you apply it. I would recommend going to a salon and having the color fixed professionally.

I know that bakin soda works but u have to use it imediatly. also if you dye your hais with a color with ASH in it should tone the color down quite considerably. Just buy a hair dye that is close to the color u wanted and then take out half of the developer (white) and add the amout of developer u took out with water. then put in the dye and put it on ur hair. The wait only fifteen minutes and take a shower and lightly use shampoo and the conditioner they give you...

either that or u could actually die it... it has been a while ago... i think ur hair should be fine ot dye again

P.S. i did the first method recently and it worked wonders

NO!!! Please don't use this or you may end up with even a bigger mess and dried out hair to boot!!! Dampen your hair and put mayonnaise on it. Wrap in plastic and then in a towel. Leave on as long as you can stand it. Wash twice and condition well. It may take a few times but it will lift color and keep your hair very conditioned. If mayo isn't appealing to you, then try hot oil treatments. The conditioning combined with the warmth, opens the hair shaft so the color will lift out and wash out. If your hair is really dark, there are chemicals you can use but I do not advise them. Have seen way too many disasters in the lifting and recoloring process. Just keep doing heavy conditioning treatments and lots of shampooing. Sitting in the sun, even in winter, will lift the color too. It will get reddish as it oxidizes.

Depending on the color you dyed your hair the dish soap could possibly make it worse. It could just fade it really bad and make it look washed out (like if it's black the soap could turn it a greyish color) Your best bet would be to go to a salon and ask them to fix it for you.

I had a color I hated and I ruined my hairl! I am a natural blonde and went auburn. I had done a "wash out" but it stayed in my hair. I had to go to the salon and pay 150 dollars to get my hair back to the color it once was. Sooo... to answer your question... forget the dish soap and spend the money to get it done right. Good luck.. I know how frustrating it is.

I would not recommend even trying that. It's dish soap NOT hair shampoo. It could irritate your scalp or who knows what else.

Live with the color you have or use a color rinse. You don't know what damage you could do to your hair.

Dawn dishwashing soap is the one to use, it strips the color out of your hair,, my stylist used it on me when my hair got to dark and it worked w/o any problems. Just leave it in for a few mins and then rinse. If your looking to go darker your can always use black tea. Just make 4 cups or it and soak your hair in that then leave it in a plastic cap for about 45 mins and it looks great

It sounds as if you did not do this dye job yourself so i suggest you return to the place that did do it and ask what they would recommend be done. They know what product was used and what color you were before. Home remedies for dye removal are seldom successful and could even be disasterous.

That will dry your hair out like crazy, and then you will have to worry about your next dye job trashing your hair. Your best bet is to strip it and then re-dye it. Also, Try John Frieda's Products for deep-conditioning. Expensive, but so so useful for that.
