I know how you feel. I have had all through my life real issues about dying and I am a christian and I know that I am going to heaven after all of this. I even had to go to counciling for a while to help me to deal with a few things, but in the end they just had to stop as they couldnt cure a fear that was completely rational. People where trying to tell me that I was being irrational and to stop thinking about it, but when you get into those phases, there isnt anyone who can help you but yourself.

What I have found is that you cant get rid of the fear and you cant really stop thinking about it. You just have to learn way sof dealing with those fear and thoughts. It is fine to think about it and it is normal, so normal, afterall it is the only certain thing in life, something that we all have to do, but I dont think that it is normal to thin about it all the time. Maybe chat it through with someone to help you find ways of dealing with it.

I guess that everyone has there own way of dealing with it, when I spoke to people about it, they just say ow i dont thnk about it, but the way they say it, you know that they have thought about it alot at one point and just resolved to the idea that they cant do anything about it and so just literally dont think about it. But other people find this a bit difficult! Like me! I would love to be able just to do that, but I cant and I dont think I ever will, I think that it will be something that I will always stuggle ith. But you just have to get on with doing things and consentrate on living.

And afterall, if nothing happens after you dye, you literally arent going to know about it. and when you are dead you arent going to know about it? do you see what I mean?

Really just stop thinking about it, only allow yourself to think about it at certain times, if you cant stoping thinkign about it, think right ok I cant think about these things until this time, you got to train yourself!

write your ideas down, I did, wrote down all my concerns in a map and what I was really think about and it all didnt seem so scary.

Hope this helps, had to be honest, sometimes i know it helps to hear what other people are really thinking.

take care

That is a very good question and one I struggled with in the past. Life, at one stage, seemed hopeless, either you get old or you die young, neither of which seemed particularly pleasing. You can't deliberately stop thinking about something it's impossible, for example if I tell you not to think about elephants what's the first thing that comes into your head. All you can do is deliberately decide to think about something else. Have something positive to focus your mind on for when these negative and scary thoughts enter your mind (which is nearly always in the middle of the night when you can't sleep and can't even go out or call a mate). It helps if you have an ongoing project, a hobby (something complex and stimulating, not just being on yahoo answers) or a long term goal to focus your attention on. Consider carefully your next step in that project, what you are aiming to achieve, how great you are going to feel when you have achieved it. What you need to do tomorrow to push that goal forward.

As you say, we all have to die, there's nothing we can do to change that, so there's really no point in worrying about it. Fill up the time before then with so many other things you don't have time to think about it because it's what you do between now and then that counts.

Death will come when it will. I try to fight back a little bit by studying human medical science. The era of potential biological immortality is possible in probably just a few decades. A chemical called "CGK733" has been shown to re-attach telomeres to chromosomes by some Korean scientists (if they are telling the truth!) and this is the first time ever that what is a key part of the aging process has been reversed. There will still be death - airplane crashes, war, etc., but death from old age might become a thing of the past.

If you are consumed with thinking about death I suggest you start thinking about what you need to get done for the day, and/or start "fighting back" by doing something in the same direction I am. You could also try hanging around some children - sometimes they can really cheer a person up with their innocent antics - and they remind us that their is hope for the future.

Everyone dies so at the end of the day why think about it when you know you can't stop it?

I'd rather spend my time thinking and doing all the crazy things I can do in life than sitting there thinking about how I'm going to die or when.

Try not watching tv before bed, read a book instead and avoid reading the newspaper during the day. As for thinking a lot try to occupy your time by going for a walk with friends, go bike riding do something that won't make you stop and think about death.

Why worry*, there is little you can doabout it, it will happen when God decides it time, just repent real quick when the pain gets bad, pray to Jesus for forgiveness and you should be OK.

* the foregoiing only applies to Christians, however some muslims choose a positive life end option by use of a Boeing Airliner or the Semtex But Plug option. However they are unlikely to ask Jesus for forgiveness so they will have to go to the other place after death, at least they will be warm for the first time since coming to Britain.

I think about it all the time. The key is nt to let it worry you too much because it's enevitable. there's nothing you can o about it.

Everyone thinks about it.

Just try and enjoy your life while you are here.

It's just a harsh fact, we will die one day. Everyone does.

You'll have plenty of time in the after life/next life/heaven/hell to think about that, lol.

Seriously, dont worry about it.=)

If you think about it constantly then it could be an underlying depression. It isnt usual to think about death alot. Maybe go and have a chat with your GP. You are right that we all have to die but you shouldnt waste what time you have thinking about stuff you can do nothing about xxxx

Anyway i suppose its good to think about Death in the sense of theology or "what happens after death" etc. But in a dark depressive way then it's not so good!m Depends what your take on it is!
