The Ford GT40 went fast enough to win the 24 hours at Le mans in 1966 against Ferrari's and the best Europe had. So why are some of the guys answering this ragging Ford out?

You could bury the speedometer needle in it. That said, if the engine has not been taken care of, you could also destroy it. You also need to know what type of cam is in it for the valves. There really are a lot of variables that have to be answered. The transmision is also a crucial part of your question. It can be a very good car, or the worst lemon you ever bought. Buy it as a possiblilty, and then get into it's mechanics to make it what you want it to be.
