I want the smokey flavor of the grilling but the tenderness of the crockpot. Can I cook them in the pot and finish them in the crock? Or should I grill them first then transfer them to the pot? Do I have to add liquid to the pot of can I just cook them after I add seasoning?

I do this all the time. We love the ribs but with working all day we don't have the time so I salt and pepper them and put them in the Crock pot on low for about 5 hours. (not much longer or they will fall apart yummy but not good for grilling). Remove from Crock pot and grill on hot grill with BBQ sauce delish! If I have the time I will bake them covered in the oven for about 90 min with a little bit of water then put them on the grill. Enjoy. Julie

I think that's a great idea! I always pre-cook country style ribs before I grill them. If you grill them without partially cooking them first, they tend to get too crispy or burned on the outside before the inside is done.

I would recommend adding liquid to the crockpot. Alternately, you could boil them a bit before you put them on the grill.

Using your idea will give you moist and flavorful country ribs. Can I come over and help eat them?

Put them in the oven for a few hours (until fully cooked) with a little bit of water in the bottom of the pan they are in covered with foil and then grill them with bbq or season them while raw. *If they are too tender and are falling apart grill on foil to avoid losing half your dinner.
