Well its really all about the thought that counts I guess. As long as you guys feel good about each other it shouldn't matter what you get for gifts. The world is so materialistic now today and it sickens me. The best gift of all is the love that two share between each other not the love of stuff that doesn't have crap to do with your relationship.
Don't let stuff get in the way of you two. I rather have a card written in crayon made by my girlfriend than an XBox 360. I'm 25 and really love the XBox too!

It's the thought that counts! Not how big it is, or the size.
I think most guys don't tend to think in that direction because it doesn't seem to be a typical guy thing.
Does he have a high stress job, or alot of responsibilities? That can do it, too.
And often in that situation, guys feel they already do alot. Not that they consciouslessly sit down and think that out. They often don't have enough time.
How often have you heard a guy say, "When I come into a store, I don't waste any time! I buy only what's necessary and then I get out! Too much like work.
And by necessary they mean food, clothing, and shelter.
Chocolate doesn't really fit any of those categories! Food? Well, don't think so.
Except to you, it is love. I know how ya feel! And he is clueless. About that.
He may show it in other ways? Like Groowl! In you're hair or something. It's there guy side.

Don't immediately jump to conclusions and accuse him of forgetting or being cheap. There may have just been some special circumstances involved. If it becomes a pattern, then maybe ask him about it. He could be new or just nervous at it. Maybe he thought his gift was great and really thought out, but didn't really impress you much. For the first birthday that my boyfriend and I were dating, he didn't do so hot either. Just be sure to be understanding. My advice is to just give it some time.

Hey chocolate is chocolate Hon. I love chocolate, last minute ot not. If you don't want it , I'll take it. Anyway, it's the thought that counts, not the amount, right?

How do you know it was a last minute thing? Some guys just don't know how to shop. Back to your question I think it means he cares for you enough to do something for you. Cut him some slack.

He isn't a romantic and it speaks volumes as to how he values you in his life. I would seriously consider finding someone who will treat you with respect and be thrilled to bits to lavish you with gifts on your birthday.
