No. And nor should they be. In the right hands, from a good breeder and well socialised and trained, a rottweiler is a great dog to own. Sadly most of the chavs who get them have a lower IQ than the dog, never bother training it and as a result the dog (which could be any breed) ends up a liability and dangerous. The same thing would happen if the chav owned a poodle.

No not yet, but no doubt they will be soon. It's a pity really because they are great dogs. I have had 4 rotties over a span of 16 years and they have all been brilliant. The only problems with the dogs are their owners!! People should be vetted to see if they are suitable to own a breed such as this, and I have to say that the breeders where I got mine from all vetted me and my husband to make sure we were suitable to own one. And that is how it should be. When they were all the 'in dog' to have, then some unscrupulous owners would over-breed their bitches, thus producing the dogs that maybe turned out to be vicious. As the saying goes, A dog is as good as it's owner.....say no more

The Dangerous Dogs Act should be
The Dangerous Dog Owner's Act.
The dogs owner of any breed type should be licenced and vetted for their suitability as an animal owner.
This would prevent allot of animals being Miss-treated..

No, and as long as the owners are bringing them up right, they shouldn't be. I have two, and never have I had another animal give such love and admiration. But just like any other dog, if they felt like they were in danger then they would protect themselves, and me and my home. I also have a spaniel who is the leader of the pack, and she can be more protective than them!

I know it is one of the listed breeds for the Breed Specific Legislation, and I know that because I have signed about 30 different petitions trying to stop it. Most people do not realize that the Pits are not the only dogs listdin the legislation. Alot of the breeds that insurance companies will not insure with are on the list.
