Get a tutor, someone who will read what you have written, correct errors and make suggestions for better construction and expression. You are doing all the right things so far but you need another opinion. Even professional writers get help from editors.

Do you have any style guides? I would recommend the following:
Chicago Mannual of Syle and the Associated Press (AP) Style book. These are great grammatical resources.

Also, use a thesaurus. This will help broaden your vocabulary and increase some depth in your style of writing.

Do you understand sentence structure? If not, try to find a good grammar course.

Read some essays on-line. Get a feel for them. Adjectives are great things! Use them! Combine sentences.

For example instead of writing. The cat is green. It sleeps on my chair. My chair is a blue wingback.

Write: The green cat sleeps on my blue wingback chair.

See the difference?

Keep writing. That is the best way to progress!

You appear to be writing in Indian English which is not recognised outside India. Get someone who really does know proper English, whether standard English or American English, to critique your writing.

For example you should have written:

I read and write voracioiusly in order to improve my writing skills. When I read what I have written, however, it is evident that I am still lacking in writing skills. This can be seen, for example, when I attempt to give my opinion of a book: it is evident that my observations are superficial.

I keep a diary every day, but nonetheless I feel that I am not improving my writing skills.

What can I do? Is there any guide for me to follow?

This matter is crucial to me, because I would like to study in the USA but at present am concerned that my lack of progress in written English may be a barrier to that.

Quality writing takes time and much editing. Edit your writing, proofread, edit again, proofread, edit again.

That's how good writers do it. Why do you think writers go to secluded locations and stay there for years. They need to get rid of distractions and have large chunks of time to concentrate on what they are doing.

Writing isn't easy for most people. It's hard work.

Ask your teacher to help you and take advantage of any tutoring and extra help opportunities. Ask people you know to proofread your work and offer suggestions.
