It can take up to 6 months for the feathers to grow back. When you clip a birds wings you do not want them to not be able to fly at all. You just want them to not fly too well. It is not safe if they drop like a rock. Below is a better place to teach how to clip birds wings.

It should take a few months. I don't clip my budgie's wings at all. I find it unnecessary and mean. My birds are healthier and happier then my cockatiel who i got with clipped wings. He sits and watches them, waiting for his wings to grow out so he can fly with them too.

They have never crashed into anything and I'm careful to make sure there are no open doors or windows they could escape out of.

Think about letting your budgies wings grow out and not clipping them at all, it's worth it. Once my ocakteil wings grow out he's staying that way so he can fly with his little budgie friends.

Good luck and I hope your budgie feels better soon!

I used to raise parakeets. It usually takes about a month for the smaller flight feathers to grow back, which will enable them to fly for short runs. The primary feathers, which are the longest ones take more like 6 to 8 weeks.

Trimming your pets wings should be done after they learn to fly, and after their molt. Then you should only have to clip once a few months or so. Here is a site telling in detail how and when.

not long- mines grow back in to where they can sort of glide within 2 weeks- they just need one primary feather--see my pics http://www.flickr.com/photos/11126218@N00/
