On all EasyJet flights that I have taken from London Gatwick (LGW) to Cologne (CGN) there is a fire truck waiting at the gate when the plane arrives (in Cologne). I have never experienced this on any other airline or at any other airport. Why is this?

Maybe the stand easyJet uses in Cologne is next to where they park the fire truck? It sounds a bit strange that this has happened more than once, and only in CGN.

Most airports have fire trucks the time of landing in case something goes wrong. If a jet has a engine fire or some other sort of emergency, more fire trucks would be called in because the jet might explode when it lands.

Sometimes Pilots call ahead on ATC for fire services to follow them to the gate if they think something has happened to the aircraft. May be a coincedence that you've experienced this a few times.
