chewing gum should not damage your teeth at all, but interestingly it is said that if you swallow chewing gum it remains in your digestive system for around 7 years because it cannot be digested properly and presumerably just gets stuck, however this is just an old wives tale..chewing gum does resist digestion but should pass through the body normally.

I also chew gum a lot and have had noi bad effects from it. In fact, I have benefitted from it because it satifies the need to chew and I don't get hungry so much. It's also good exercise for the facial muscles.

I don't think it does anything to your teeth unless it has a really high level of sugar and you don't brush your teeth. But, it does affect the TMJ. It's the muscle around your jaw joints. It's not good for it and can cause your jaw to become mis-aligned.

I have already had fillings come out in the gum. Make sure you chew sugarless.

as long as its sugar-free gum,its fine.gum with sugar can cause tooth decay.if someone has tmj (thermo mandibular joint)problems, gum chewing can make it worse and cause severe pain.
