We lack prayer, and fill our time with so many other things.

when did the power of the Holy Spirit come over the church in the book of Acts? While they were preaching, NO, while the were singing, NO, while they were collecting offerings, NO.. First of all don't take this in an offensive way- all good churches have preaching, singing and offerings. The power came upon the church while they were praying. In most churches today, prayer takes a back seat to other important things. Oswald Chambers in "My Utmost for His Highest" says- "Prayer does not get God ready to do our will, it gets us ready to do His".

because we rely on self instead of the Holy Spirit. the Holy Spirit gives power, the church just does not seem all that powerful.
we have it too easy, in a sense, in America. no one is truly persecuted or facing death for their faith in this country. i would say the modern church in America lacks power, but in other country's where they do not have the same freedom to worship as we do, the Spirit is very powerful.
i believe we could have the same power they did in acts, but do American Christians really want to experience it? it does come at a price. it would mean being uncomfortable and dying to self, truly dying to self.

The church of Acts believed in the gifts of the Spirit and embraced them. Some modern day churches are afraid to talk and teach about the gifts of the Spirit. If you do not know all that we are capable of in the Spirit you can not strive for it. We must become more open to the Holly Spirit, more aware, let the Spirit take control, we must move out of our own way. Lets all pray for that mighty move of God expecting and believing... and we will see his Glory.

Hypocrisy and disunity. The church in Acts practiced what they preached. They all worked together and took care of eachother. The moden church is full of hypocrites, plagued by politics, and divided, divided, and divided some more. If the church is the body of Christ, then Christ has been dismembered.

In short, a 501(c)(3) “church” cannot freely preach Christ, His Kingdom or His Truth. They must honor first and foremost the prince of this world, his kingdom and his lie. They have turned their swords into plowshares before the vicory is won, and being unarmed, are a liability to Christ’s purpose to assault the gates of hell (to which they have pledged allegiance!) I’ve heard it said that “healthy sheep reproduce”, but these have made themselves eunichs in Christ’s flock. Matt 22:14 says many are called, but few are chosen, but of these it can truly be said that many are cold, and a few are frozen.

Peace!
Very good question. I think he is angry with us. We are supposed to be light and salt to other people. We have become like the Jews during the Old Testament period. We have turned to a new form of idol worship - materialism, humanism, atheism, etc.

At least here in the USA presently, many are worshipping God on man's terms, not worshipping God on God's terms. By God's term's the old testament is the law of Moses not Genesis-Malachi.
