I've seen close up portrait of some models who have zero hairs in their nostrils and I think that looks cool, but I am afraid this decreases the body defenses against airborne viruses or contaminants.

You have tiny hairs to the back of your nostrils and also in the top part of your lungs. If you were to pull a few hairs in front, you will not be made more susceptible to illness. Take vitamins C, E and A to protect your immune system, which is far more important than how many hair follicles you have in the front of your nose. Do make sure you clean the area with soap and water first and then pluck. It will be tender and hurt some. If you use a warm water compress and then pluck right away, it will help with the uncomfortableness. Same goes for the eyebrows. Hold the warm wash cloth on the area for a 10-20 seconds to open the pores. Good luck. Don't forget to take your vitamins!

Depends on how prone to sickness your body's system can get. I get sick like only once a year if at all. I don't even get flu shots and I never catch squat! Could be because I visited pretty sketchy countries when I was little and now that I'm back here in the U.S. my immune system laughs at the cooties thrown my way. I don't think that weedwacking your nostrils will affect your susceptibility for the flu.

The hairs in your nostrils do help to filter the air, but chances are if you are going to get the flu the virus will find its way hairs or no hairs.

Not at all, cough, hack, splutter,
You may want to sanitize the area after plucking but I don't think hair removal will make you any more prone to illness.
