Hard drive takes the most recording time, but you have to off load it to a computer, VCR or DVD burner to get it out of the camera.

DVD only record for 20 minutes

DV-C and Digital Handicam 60 minutes on tape

Handicams are larger in size and weigh more, because the tape is larger in size.

The only advantage is if you previously had a Hi8 or 8mm camera, you can reuse the tapes or play them back in some units.

DV-C are smaller and lighter. They won't take good still pictures however.

I recommend you consider a MiniDV camcorder. Its tape based and digital, but the tapes are small. You can easily playback and record over stuff you don't want to keep. And its easy to hook up to a hotel room TV to watch. Most TV's in hotels these days have video ports on the front of the TV.

Of all the formats MiniDV is the easiest to use because we all still think in terms of tape. I can't help but notice that all the pro's still use tape - digital - but its still tape. Its the simplest format and its reusable.

this question at present got here up interior the long island cases. formally, there is not any specific regulation limiting using a camcorder for the time of flight. in spite of the shown fact that, there have been cases the place passengers filming for the time of takeoff and landing have been asked to place their camcorders away. airlines have given one explanation for it: actual your camcorder is portion of your carry-on luggage, and all luggage must be placed away the two interior the overhead bin or below the seat in front of you, in case there is turbulence and you lose administration of your camcorder. My suggestion could be: choose for it, yet while a flight attendant asks you to place it away, admire his/her training, and you ought to be superb.
