Hello,

I have been in process for my citizenship a little over the allotted 6-months. I have done my fingerprinting early August and still no word on an interview. If I needed my citizenship to be processed faster so I can embark on an academic research trip in February, would that be reason enough to ask the congressman for help? If so, what is the process and the best way to approach it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Call your Congressman AND BOTH of your US Senators at 202-224-3200 ( I think) each of them has a staff member who specializes in immigration issues for pending visas, Citizenship etc. You may find you get more personal service by calling the Congressman and Senators Local office in the state you live in and asking for the help of their immigration liason rep.

You should have started eairler, there is such a back log with people wanting this and that, and the screening process and back ground checks, and then with all the new laws and this passport thing, I mean it could take some time. I really don't know what a congressman can do, but things take time. Good Luck.

hey call this number for USCIS cutomer service:
1-800-375-5283
and then select these options:
1>>2>>2>>6>>1( if you have your case number that has 3 alphabets and asterix and 9 digits after that) >> enter your case # >> 2>>1>>3>>3>>1 voala, and you will get a live talking person from customer service to talk to you, and if they can't help you then they will forward you to one of the immigration officers, ok?
hope it helps. mine took 8 months to process from the point of application to the oath ceremony. so best of luck.

Have you checked the processing times at uscis.gov? If your date hasn't come up yet, there is going to be very little your congressman can do, unless you and he/she are very well-connected.

In the other questions you have raised on this subject today, people have offered workable solutions. Try one of those.

Call your Congressman for assistance; have your check book ready so that he can empty your account. After all, money is the mother's milk of politics.
