Is this in retaliation of something? Maybe the dog is lonely?

I would venture to guess that somehow along the way, when your dog clawed at the carpet or dug at the furniture, she recieved what seemed to her to be a reward of some kind. If this hadn't happened, she would not be continuing it. The behavior may have begun out of bordom or anxiety but now it is a habit.

The first thing I can recommend it to prevent the behavior by removing her from areas this would normally take place. I assume that she is not crate trained but you could tether her to something and give her a toy or kong with treats or peanut butter inside to keep her busy. The scenario would be that you would be on the phone or at your comuter and your dog would be unable to do her digging because she couldn't get to the areas where that would take place.

If you feel that your dog is overactive, then switching to a food that contains turkey (I recommend Neura which is 95% turkey)would help calm her. Do it very slowly or her tummy might react poorly. Adding a bit of yogurt to her food would also help, as calcium is calming. I would also recommend placing 10 drops of Rescue Remedy in her water which helps to calm.

Destruction can be the motive of a change in his hobbies ie. The actual fact your other canine has been to the vets. When did it ? If it began rapidly after your bltch had the emergency surgical procedure then this is customarily the motive of his destruction and he has ''freaked out''. Has it stopped now she's house? Different factors incorporate boredom - how so much endeavor does he get? Also separation anxiety could be a purpose. When your bltch was at the vets he was in most cases abit freaked on the fact she wasn't there, for the reason that you said they're shut. It could be the very fact he is too scorching (they have plenty of fur) so he is making an attempt to cool down through digging, however into the partitions as a substitute of the bottom. They're some reasons why however i think what triggered it is usually the very fact your bltch went away for a at the same time. If she's back now then with a bit of luck the behaviour will stop however you might ought to snap him out of it. If he's doing it when you are there then pull him away. Should you exit then depart him in his crate or (readily due to the fact you in finding this merciless) get a dog pen for him to go in (i don't know if they will be any huge sufficient), or quite simply go away him locked in one room which 'you do not mind' getting destroyed possibly the storage? I dread to think what it is like. I personally do not own a nice Pyrs but my boss does and he is gigantic! The destruction that he could probably cause is really scary and but you're experiencing it. Like i stated, hopefully he'll relax now his little mate is again. Try to get back into typical movements!

Are you giving her the same attention that you had before. Maybe she is feeling depressed. She could possibly going through a phantom pregnancy. Many dogs go through this atleast once in their life. With her thinking that she is pregnant she will go through all of the signs. That means nesting, digging at things to find a safe place to have the puppies.

That's pretty vague. Dogs dig for a lot of reasons. I'm guessing, maybe she saw Escape from Alcatraz and decided to give it a try since she gets bored being locked up in the house all day?

have you been using a new product in the home...carpet powder, rug cleaner etc? dogs are very sensitive. Is the carpet really old? maybe there are mold or bacteria issues. Is your dog stressed for some reason....look for other changes in the household such as work schedule changes etc

I had the same problem and the vet told me that his nails were to long. The outside dogs scratch them on ground to keep them short. We had his claws trimmed and he has stopped.

Most likely allergies. Some dogs get allergies as the mature. Mine have always had them. It makes their feet itch like crazy. Talk to your vet first and then start him on OTC benedryl. It works for my guys.
