you need to be around people who make you feel loved and happy until you are able to look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself that you love yourself and that you don't care if anybody else likes or loves you it's about acceptance of yourself

No. Prayer has been shown to have no effect on psychological or physical ailments. The best it can do is offer the effects of meditation. Jesus says that what you ask for will be given if you just have faith, but this simply isn't true. Why continue to have faith in a liar?
Faith will not cure depression, stop abuse, or cure cancer. These things are problems within reality, so turning to superstition cannot have an effect.

Yes, either directly or indirectly.
If your depression is caused by oppressive spiritual forces, prayer in Jesus name can cast those out. See also "Healing" by Francis MacNutt. Or contact his healing ministry at http://www.christianhealingmin.org or my friend Olivia Reiner at http://www.houstonprogressive.org/nothanku.html who has successfully prayed to help people where medication failed.
If your depression requires healing of memories or relationships, or even working with a medical professional or other therapist, then Jesus' gift of healing grace works through all these to heal the whole person, body mind and spirit. Again "Healing" by MacNutt outlines the different levels of healing and what kind of treatment is needed for each, from prayer to medical help.
Depending on your case, it may take a combination of spiritual, psychological and/or medical treatment to help you. If you read MacNutt's book on "Healing" try to find the 2003 edition or later where his wife, a licensed psychotherapist, added a testimony by a suicidal patient who had a change of heart and decided to cooperate with treatment after experiencing a visitation from Jesus. After that night, she agreed to therapy to complete her process where before she had given up. This case shows that both the spiritual treatment is necessary along with regular therapy. It varies with each person so you have to find what works for you.

Depression, like manic depression, chronic depression and clinical depression are physical disorders, not merely emotional. Faith can cure anything, not always, sometimes we just dont think it will do it wont. It hurts me to see people suffering over anything and many Christians just say "pray about it" or "give it over to God" as if the person never does. Many times, people are healed of something through faith when nothing else worked, but I believe that the brain should be treated like any organ of the body and should be cared for in the same way.

not sure about curing, but it can certainly help people through it. knowing that there is someone/something out there that never changes, that is totally dependable, can be confided in 100%...can really help someone battle depression. and im speaking from experience.
having said that, Jesus can cure all diseases and illnesses,so a healing is definitely possible

It depends on if the depression is circumstantial or chemical. I have depression that it is hereditary. Try as I might, praying and reading theological treatments on depression does not take it away. It needs to be treated medically. It works, but it is not a cure. I will probably need to take medication for the rest of my life, but that is okay as long as it does its job.

LOL, no, depression is a health issue. Believing in Jesus won't solve neurological disorders.

i new a strongly Christian woman who was deeply depressed. she ended up in hospital, then had therapy and that helped her. She never gave up her faith though, and as she got better she met someone in church and got married. Personally I think her faith helped keep her alive, but it wasn't the cure.
