Interesting thought.
If the carnivores are removed from the ecosystem there will be some effect.
Prey species will increase in numbers as they have no natural predators around anymore. Once the prey species has reached its carrying capacity it will result in population crash.
Another affect would be possible elimination of vegetation species due to the over population of herbivores.
There is no one answer to this as if the carnivores are affected the entire ecosystem is affected so I cannot give a great answer to this question, as there are too many variables.
But I hope this helps.

Interesting question! I would think that there would be an overpopulation of herbivores at first. Remember carnivores keep the herbivore population in check by eating the weak and sick. So, maybe with all those weak and sick ones surviving to reproduce, there may, over time, be a weakening of the gene pool and the species would become less vigorous.
I don't think that all the carnivores could ever really disappear though. Whatever force would be large enough to wipe out the carnivores (massive, deadly disease or some change in the habitat) would definitely have a negative impact on the herbivores as well...

If all carnivors were removed, there wouldn't be enough plants for the over population of veggie eaters :) Therefore, the veggie eaters would die out, and there would be nothing. The world would be unbalanced and everything would fall out of place.

If you count humans as carnivores, you wouldn't have to worry.

we be overrun by herbivores and rodents. They would end up eating all the vegetation. Many would die of starvation as well.
