Only your vet can tell you for sure. You need to take your kitty in. It could be a type of mange, ringworm, a skin infection (pyoderma), something related to allergies, some other kind of parasite, self mutilation injuries... you need to see your vet!

my vet has had me try half a benadryl for my allergy-ridden feline. it didn't help though, and she hated it so much (the taste of it) that she foamed at the mouth!
ask your vet if they can give you some fish oil for cats and dogs.
also it might just be stress...has their been any major changes in your cat's routine? some cats can be so upset by the slightest change, they actually over groom and pull whole chunks of hair out.
oh yeah...and whatever the cause...be carefull about hairballs. try and find out if your cat is actually ingesting the missing fur (it probably is) and if so give it some hairball medicine.
if the cat ends up licking open sores in it's skin (which is easy to do with their rough tongue) you should take it to the vet. i have had no luck getting my cat to stop licking once she has open sores. even with a cone collar.

If it's an outdoor cat, it may have gotten into a fight with another animal. I would put neosporin on the scabs and get it checked by the vet Monday.

You need to find out what is causing the problem to begin with. Chunks of hair and scabs sounds alot like a mange infection, but you should take her to the vet first to find out what is wrong, then treat it.

It could be a number of things, from skin problems, to allergies to fleas. Your best bet is to take your cat to the vet. Dont second guess it, someone could tell you that its mange and to do this this and this....While its really allergies and what you did could make it worse.

It's more than likely Mange, Check with your pet department in town, there are some creams you can buy to help the cat with healing and itching.

it isnt a condition. everyone should know that if your cat is missing fur and has scabs is obviously from a cat fight.
